Half County , half Leeds .
What a GREAT Christmas present for all the County/Leeds fans that will attend our FA Cup tie !!! Has this been done before , as I think these could make the Club Shop a fortune ???
Tongue in cheek again as it's corny as hell , but I think these WOULD sell ??

No doubt we'll sell them though.

3I hate them.
I also own three. All Europa League ones. One of which was gathered by my wife from the home end when we were in Israel.

5I do have a County/Jena one but that reflects a special relationship. Other than that sort of link the whole idea seems geared to street traders wanting to hedge their bets.
Re: Half n half scarves ....
6I’m not a fan of them and wouldn’t buy one, but if they were sure to sell out and people only bought officially, surely it’s a good idea?
Re: Half n half scarves ....
7It is a far more complex issues than some realize. I personally think that they are daft. The point is will we make a profit selling them?
But again it is not quite so simple. County fans like everyone else have disposable income. It may well be the case that even if say £500's worth of these scarves were sold, that County fans would have spent some or all of that money on County related merchandise in any event.
Then you need to consider the cost. Not just the cost of production but also the cost in time and effort for the club in making the scarves available. We can see on another thread that Colin Jones has earned 48 Australian dollars through his efforts. However had he stacked shelves in his local supermarket and donated the proceeds of his labours to the club the hours of toil spent may well have produced more. Economists call this opportunity cost, by the way.
Now a club of Newport County's size can't do anything near the analysis that is required. The best they can do is ring around other clubs and ask for their experience and also to look at our experience with the Blackburn game.
Lest you think I am writing this because of a fetish about scarves let me set your minds at ease. I am merely pointing out just how many different and difficult decisions need to be made in order to decide such a simple issue. And to point out why having a competent and accountable commercial manager is so vital.

Re: Half n half scarves ....
9I can't stand them either. They probably appeal mostly to children and may get worn once or twice. Maybe it's the casual, very occasional supporter that buys one. For the likelihood of not a great profit just don't produce them. They'll be available from the leeches that stand just outside the ground if you're desperate to have one.
Re: Half n half scarves ....
11..... but then of course, if it was Newport County on one side, and Leeds Utd on the reverse side, MAYBE more would sell. At least they could be worn to future games.
Re: Half n half scarves ....
12Typical modern football nonsense! Utter waste of money if the club does this again. Stay well clear. Do pin badges recognising the game or something like that.
Re: Half n half scarves ....
13Plastics ! I fooking hate that term. Just let everyone support/follow who they want

14If it's official merchandise wouldn't we have to get Leeds' permission?George Street-Bridge wrote:I do have a County/Jena one but that reflects a special relationship. Other than that sort of link the whole idea seems geared to street traders wanting to hedge their bets.
