I believe that Kevin Ward, one of the new Trust directors, is also on the board of the Trust that operates Spytty Stadium on behalf of Newport City Council, so perhaps that's where the club's facilities will stay and improve.

Wont fire damage be covered by insurance. And we have great training facilities as our director of operations GAVIN stated , so why spend money if not needed . Academy needs addressing as a football club in league 2 we sd have more coming through the ranks imo . Personally i dont think we make the play offs this year hope iam wrong just think there are teams who are in better form than us . So keep the money to strengthen in preseason and for a rainy day .

I agree with the first part, I think Spytty for a fourth tier team is more than adequate. I also think it unlikely but not impossible we will make the playoffs.

I can see the argument for using the money to strengthen the team and saving for a rainy day. However for once we have money, a regime at Dragons which seems open to at least considering a joint approach and a new board member who has experience of working with the local authority.

I genuinely don't think that I will live to see a better opportunity for County to have a real stake in the stadium in which we play. For me that is far more important than any other consideration.

Based on the evidence of our time spent in the football league , this money will be gone in 2/3 years if we do not have another cup run or sell a player.

Lets be honest how many supporters after their club has a good cup run or player sale reach for the "where has all the money gone!" post. If it enables us to start from scratch next season, with season ticket sales not all spent before a ball is kick next season then that would be enough for me. Aim should be to hopefully strengthen in the summer without having to worry about the need of a good cup run or player sale, without chucking long contracts about like johny big boots. Another good thing about about the cup run, new directors etc is that hopefully there is interest from old and new business persons. Hopefully everyone will now get on given and remember the we havent got any money times as well as the fa cup boom.

I understand that it has been a very busy time with the cup run and the onboarding of new directors, but it would be good to hear in the near future about when the next open meeting will be held where subjects such as this can be discussed in principle.

Good post this one and good sensible debate too, just what the message should be for.
I'm with Stan on this one, my main wish would be to enable us to have enough clout to sit around the table with the council and the WRU and put forward a proper ground part ownership to push us forward for the for-seeable.
I would also use some of it to sort the ticketing - shop both on line and physical - side of things as a priority.
If we had anything left then help for some players for next season is good, but only to back Flynns, judgement.
As the boy at Cheltenham shows (class act that kid signed from Greenwich way) and Washington for us etc, there are some proper diamonds in the rough out there for cheap.
But even if we don't make the play offs at least we will be more stable for next season. But it's not over yet. Let's see.

Agree with that. Incidentally, the fire at Spytty seems to be getting “ bigged up “ as one of the items for spending the windfall - surely that was covered by insurance? As regards bills, anyone know roughly what we owe and to whom? Like the NCFC Hippy I’d like us to pursue some joint initiatives with the WRU as I think we need to show some commitment to RP if it’s going to be our long term home.

The amount of times that keeps getting brought up you'd think the place burnt to the ground.

That’s what I felt, softening us up for “ sorry, the moneys all gone on training ground repairs “
