Looking back.....to the year 2000

Can you believe that 18 years have gone by since the whole 'Minellium' thing?
What were things like for Newport County back then?

We were playing in level 6, The Dr.Marten's League - Premier Division.
We had an average gate of 777 including away fans.
Only 3 of the teams in our division back then; Burton, Crawley & ourselves have reached the Football League to this day
Some of the teams in the division included: Folkestone Invicta, Fisher Athletic London,Merthyr Tydfil, Moor Green,Stafford Rangers & Worcester City.
A matchday programme cost £1.50
We were still hopeful of "turning the dream into reality".....
Newport County Ladies team was half-way up their League of 12 teams, with Cardiff City laying 2nd from bottom!
During December 2000, fans could buy a 4-match ticket, for 4 home games for £20
Our badge was the old 'Terra Marique' crest, and our kit supplier was Errea.
Our squad included some great names: Mountain, Robison, Hill, Davies, Souter, Thorne, Rose, Donovan, Eaton, Shephard, James, Kemp, Morgans & Benton....
In the Club Shop, a replica shirt cost £39.00, fridge magnet was £1.00 and a coffee mug was £3.00
Coach travel for an away game at Dorchester cost £9.00 for adults.
There was in existence something called 'The 200 Club'....whose goal was to raise funds for the Clubhouse by seeking pledges of £150 for lifetime subscription.

Some good memories there eh?.....
