Try reading my posts. I often comment when I feel that the club get it right. Unfortunately people such as yourself see only what you want to see.

It seems Ethans duties are being focused into a specific area where in the past he did a little bit of everything. The question remains why we had a CEO and an operations manager previously when we are such a small club. The lack of process worries me also , the position of club secretary should have been advertised and the best possible person chosen, that may well have been Ethan however the board have backed themselves into a corner if things with Ethan and Guy do not work out.

The huge concern is we don't have the funds or time for either decision to be wrong :(

I read and reread your post. I agree entirely. I would ask only that anyone who believes that the club has behaved in a sensible fashion with these appointments looks at what you have written and addresses the points that you have made.

Sometimes, usually, there are two sides to an argument that require a judgement call. In this instance I don't think that there are. For me your post nails it exactly.

Or you could say Alex brought along someone who he knew from past experience who was qualified to do the job and has done well and fitted in enough to be offered it.
Way into the 1990's Rangers didn't sign a Catholic. You could say that they had a sectarian signing policy. Or you could say that there was never a Catholic player good enough to play for Rangers.

This knee-jerk reaction that the club is never wrong is nonsensical. Giving people jobs as opposed to jobs being given to the best candidate is as wrong as relying on one player agency for all signings. The word is nepotism and frankly it stinks.

Please can you tell us what player agency we rely on for all our signings?

George Street-Bridge wrote:How did it turn out? Last time I looked he oversaw a successful transition to League football. Including getting the pitch sorted out to a standard it slipped from after he left, if I read the EFL experts' report correctly.
George,

Dave Boddy was told putting inappropriate covering over an already sodden pitch would make a bad situation worse. No matter Boddy plunged ahead. Had well meaning supporters getting soaked and for no purpose other than to do damage.

Dave Boddy was a disaster. It wasn't his fault he was totally out of his depth. (No pun intended.)

So, on the credit side he oversaw a successful transition to League football. On the debit side, he was involved in an attempt to cover the pitch which didn't produce the desired results, meaning a game that was already in jeopardy was indeed postponed and some supporters who helped out got wet.

Yeah, right.

Maybe you misunderstand the role of club secretary? This is a role and not a job. It is a role that is mandated by the football league. We have to name somebody as club secretary, they will be responsible for things like the Hayes c0ck up. The duties that the club secretary performs will usually be in addition/part of a wider role, some of them can be delegated. It is not a case of advertising and recruiting somebody, it is a case of whom from within the existing staff is best qualified to be nominated to the EFL in the role.
