Not sure how that's any different to every other season. There are hundreds or thousands of unemployed players all the time and the closure of the transfer window leads to a rush on signings. If out-of-contract players can't sort themselves out in the 7 months many of them have had to sort a new deal, well that's one of the reasons they're out of contract.

Anyway, all the new TW deadline has done is meant Premier League sides have to conclude their deals earlier and opened up the possibility of them losing players to clubs outside the FA's jurisdiction during August.

EFL sides can still sign loanees AND unregistered players until 31 August which takes care of the "short term contract" theory.

normally they had until the end of August to get deals. With the window shunting early it could be busy next week

Unemployed players without a club will be out of contract i.e. unattached so can sign for a club outside the transfer window. The only relevance the deadline has for these players is that there is less competition for the contracts they are chasing once the window is closed. This works in their favour.
