According to the Argus this is our best start since 1951 when we also began with 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. Whisper it quietly though but the next 3 games saw 3 defeats and 14 goals conceded.

I've checked the results of the seasons between 1946 and 1951. This is our best start to the 1st 11 games of the season since the 2nd world war. Won 7 Drawn 2 Lost 2.

Similar start to 1938/39 season (W7 D2 L2), the season we won promotion to 2nd. Division (now The Championship).

Wish we had the same crowds as in the early fifties, I lived on Somerton Road during that period and the road was completely full of supporters leaving at the end of the games. Thursday afternoon games (half-day closing) were also well supported. TV a luxury, pubs shut at 3 didn't open till 6. Bingo can't remember whether that was in existence,the good old days, how I hated that expression when my parents used it, now I an using it.
