My wife and I went up last year. Interesting city , go up a day before and stay Saturday night, it’s quite lively near the “ County Hotel “ . Don’t stay in the rugby club near the ground all evening as it’s a long walk when pissed to the centre. The castle is worth a visit, as is the Cathedral. Nice football club.

Went a couple of years ago, recommend the independent Tebay services south of Carlisle as a place to stay.
