Chelsea U-21 beat Plymouth 5 - 0 at Home Park to-night.
If we beat Plymouth at Rodney Parade, we qualify for the next stage.
If we win by 4 goals or more, we are guaranteed a home tie.
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
3Given our financial needs and the prize money on offer, I would suggest that we can’t afford not to field a good team.Amberexile wrote:And Plymouth cannot progress but how good a team can we afford to field?
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
4Now I've finally got my head round the rules, we need to win inside 90 minutes because a win on penalties sends Swindon through with Chelsea?
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
5Thats correct, we only get 2 points for a penalty shootout win so will need to win within 90 minutes to qualifyGeorge Street-Bridge wrote:Now I've finally got my head round the rules, we need to win inside 90 minutes because a win on penalties sends Swindon through with Chelsea?

To a Club like us it's a lot of money let's get to round 2
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
9Although if we win, we're probably contractually obliged to pay for a new stand at Rodney Parade or something, seeing as it's becoming increasingly apparent that our tenancy agreement was checked by someone with shit in their eyes.
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
11From reading Argyle's message board it seems they started with a surprisingly strong team, but after a few feisty challenges early on and conceding two goals, they just let the game run its course. Saturday's match with Sunderland is obviously a priority. They now have no further interest in this trophy. However, if they put out a less experienced side, those players may have more reason to put in a decent shift.
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
13Too early for Labadie and I'm not convinced we'll see Crofts pull on the shirt again.
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
14From what I can remember, Labadie said he would be ready in two or three weeks. The Plymouth game is on the 13th, exactly 3 weeks after his signing. Unless he has had a set back, I hope he is at least on the bench for the game.excessbee wrote:Too early for Labadie and I'm not convinced we'll see Crofts pull on the shirt again.
So far as Andrew Crofts is concerned, we'll just have to wait and see.
Re: Checkatrade Trophy
15Their assistant manager is on their website saying what a good side Chelsea are and they knew they would be because they'd scouted them at Swindon, where they won 4-0. However that was a stronger line-up because it was before the deadline and a few were loaned out.
One Plymouth striker is a regular for Wales U19s who play the next night, but I suppose that means we lose Foulston.
