Just read that Shrewsbury are considering an approach
to us about Mike.

Re: Shrews and Mike Flynn
4I’m not being disrespectful, but if there is a smaller club than us in League 1, it’s Shrewsbury. Flynny would be mad to leave us for them. Unless I’m mistaken they have amongst the smallest budgets in Lge 1. When MF is at another club, it’s because he decided to move to a bigger (& potentially better) club. Shrewsbury are not that club.
Re: Shrews and Mike Flynn
5Hope you are right, but don't they own their own ground and training facilities ?
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm sure I read that somewhere.
Anyway, I think that should he leave it would be for one of his former playing clubs.
Hopefully Barry Town, when he is close to retirement !!

6Not disrespectful, just wrong, there are lots of smaller clubs than Shrewsbury in League 1.Dogger wrote:I’m not being disrespectful, but if there is a smaller club than us in League 1, it’s Shrewsbury. Re: Shrews and Mike Flynn
8Put Newport in the top 10 at the end of the season and he’ll have his choice of numerous Lg1 clubs no doubt. Not sure what Shrewsbury are paying managers but if it’s a lot more than us then can’t begrudge him If he takes it.
Isn’t Flynny under contract until end of next season? If so, we’ll at least get some cash for him

9Interesting aside from his denial of being approached by Shrewsbury, was his belief that funds will be available for him to strengthen team in January if required?Exile 1976 wrote:Put Newport in the top 10 at the end of the season and he’ll have his choice of numerous Lg1 clubs no doubt. Re: Shrews and Mike Flynn
11Erm, no. They're bigger than County. For a start they have their own ground. And it's relatively new. They also have far more time in higher divisions. Even so, they're not his hometown club and he's probably got a job for life, so we've always got that.Dogger wrote:I’m not being disrespectful, but if there is a smaller club than us in League 1, it’s Shrewsbury. Re: Shrews and Mike Flynn
12Can't see MF being tempted away yet but he won't rule out anything. That will make the board worried and they will offer him another contract extension with another pay rise.He will sign it and then say "I had no intention of leaving as I am a Newport boy".Smart operator is Flynny.
Re: Shrews and Mike Flynn
13Much of Mike Flynn's success is down
to the combined efforts of himself, Wayne Hatswell and Lennie Lawrence.
If offered the job, would he want to take them with him?

14Given his stated ambition to manage at premiership level, eventually would Shrewsbury be seen as a 'big enough' step up?Cornish Exile wrote:Much of Mike Flynn's success is down
