Definitely a deserved win. 0-1 at half time. Twice coming from behind and getting the winner late on.

Definitely a deserved win. 0-1 at half time. Twice coming from behind and getting the winner late on.

What I remember most about that game was seeing two of their stars, Peter Swan and David "Bronco" Layne, who subsequently spent time in prison for match fixing.

So the last time we played 2 successive top flight games against Spurs we won our next top flight game in the FA Cup. Having said that we've never beaten a top flight side from outside Yorkshire.

Draws against Everton, Southampton and Tottenham not too bad though.

I went to the Everton home game as a nipper.

We scored early, David Gwyther I think, and then held on until the last minute when Adrien Heath scored a soft one. He hit a shot from outside the box and our keeper messed it up. Not sure if it was Mark Kendall or Gary Plumley but the ball bounced over his dive

Weren't West Ham in the old division 1 when we beat them 2-1 in the late '70s?

Weren't West Ham in the old division 1 when we beat them 2-1 in the late '70s?

Yeah you're correct. West Ham were relegated from the old Division 1 the season before (1977/78). We beat them in January, 1979.
