Next seasons squad - ins and outs

1
Now that is likely for the manager to have an increased budget for next season, who of our current squad would you offer improved deals to and who would you be happy to see gone? Then who would you like to replace the ones going?

To Stay:

Joe Day
Mickey D
Mark O’Brien
Butler
Bennett
Labadie
Wilmott
Amond
Matt
Townsend
Forbes
Sheehan
Touray

To go:

Pipe (waste of a wage currently)
Crofts (as above)
Dolan (possibly harsh but not sure if he has the engine to impose himself on games)
Marsh Brown
Fraser Franks (we concede far more when he plays)

Wish list:

A striker with a bit of pedigree
A wide left midfielder/winger
A strong defensive midfielder
An experienced centre back

Opinions?

A striker with a bit of pedigree - Not keen on pedigree, I prefer someone that will help us Winalot
A wide left midfielder/winger - We play with wingbacks and Butler's doing that job just fine
A strong defensive midfielder - We play with 2, Labs and Bennett doing that role fine
An experienced centre back - Franks has over 250 League appearances, O'Brien (130+) and Demetriou (Around 350). Any more experience and you'd start to be looking at players in the 30's which comes with the issues of losing pace and niggling injuries catching up with them.

A few initial thoughts in reply to the topic raised. I understand (sure I will be corrected if wrong) that Franks and Marsh-Brown have another year on their contracts as has Foulston. Would like to think Touray has impressed enough at Barry to earn another year also; with an increased budget, a greater 'risk' could be worth while in the long run with local youngsters.
Still enough games left in the league for players to prove/ disprove their worth for offers of further contracts.e.g. Sheehan, Forbes? and if the rumours are correct Kennedy?

Wouldn't disagree with the suggestion of a wide left midfielder/ winger to compliment Willmott on the right and give us that option.
That does raise the question however of our formation and the need to operate with a flat back four at times, which would necessitate I believe in having defensive full backs in the squad in addition to the current wingbacks.

An additional striker with pedigree, of course. No team can have too many, can they?

There is a good central midfielder who has been told he wont be having his contract renewed next year....He is a former Welsh International.and was a decent player in his day He believes he can still carry on for a few years......Andrew Crofts. Only down side is he is reported as saying he doesnt want to play in League 2...Lets hope MF can persuade him ?

Oh hang on >>>>>>>>>>>

We have't played with wing backs for the last few games, playing with a back 4 with Poole as right back, this has freed Wilmott to play in his best postion on the right wing, as we have no natural player as a left winger then someone who can play that role makes sense

I am being naïve I thought Marsh-Brown was gong to be that player?

Sheehan won't be here next season, waste of a wage sadly. Was hoping for big things from him, clearly Flynn doesn't believe in him/thinks he's too risky to play as he isn't defensive enough.

Forbes should go, unless he's contracted. Too weak defensively, easily beaten and out of position.

Amond probably gone if right money is offered - how much is he worth?

Matt needs to be given another year.

We need a right back, Ryan Jackson fancy coming back? Id offer Poole a deal, seems to be enjoying his football back here. Can see Kennedy signing next season.

Then an upcoming striker and a box to box midfielder... Easy...

Forbes should be one of the first out the door for me.

Current squad and their contracts:

Joe Day - Expires end of this season
Mickey D - Expires end of this season
Mark O’Brien - Expires end of this season
Butler - Expires end of this season
Bennett - Contracted till end of 2019/20 season
Labadie - Expires end of this season
Wilmott - Contracted till end of 2020/21 season
Amond - Expires end of this season
Matt - Contracted till end of 2019/20 season
Townsend - Contracted till end of 2019/20 season
Forbes - Expires end of this season
Sheehan - Expires end of this season
Touray - Expires end of this season
Pipe - Expires end of this season
Crofts - Expires end of this season
Dolan - Expires end of this season
Marsh Brown - contracted till end of 2019/20 season
Fraser Franks - Contracted till end of 2019/20 season
Azeez - Contracted till end of 2019/20 season

There are several players with contracts that run out towards the end of this season that certainly need renewing before it’s too late.

I would keep: Day, Demetriou, O’Brien, Butler, Amond, Touray, Labadie (if he puts a good run in for the remaining games and stays fit)

I would let go: Forbes, Sheehan, Pipe, Croft’s, Dolan
