New training ground?
1See in the gus Mike wants a new training ground with the cup money, how much and where could we build it?
No Idea of build costs, But would hope council would donate the land if suitable site could be identified.Willthiswork wrote:Just before anyone else says it - Old Sainsburys.
Yes - great point.Taunton Iron Cider wrote:A cheeky bid for Newport Stadium, as this would also form our plan B should the WRU continue to play hardball with the lease renewal.
Agreed, RP is the preferred option long term, but Plan B has to be the Newport Stadium.Taunton Iron Cider wrote:A cheeky bid for Newport Stadium, as this would also form our plan B should the WRU continue to play hardball with the lease renewal.
I prefer this story: https://www.chad.co.uk/news/cheeseburge ... -1-9587091Collars wrote:https://www.chad.co.uk/sport/football/m ... -1-9535203
Interestingly Mansfield have just moved into a new training ground. This is what £2m gets you but I see they got 25% on a grant. Don't know if this included the purchase of land.
So what is the solution if, as I expect, the WRU demand a huge increase in rent as their price for the lease renewal? As things stand we would find ourselves open to their financial blackmail as they know we have no fallback position,wattsville_boy wrote:And having it as a "Plan B" makes little financial sense as you'd still need to spend the millions to bring it up to League standard as well as pay off the current users of the stadium.

How much would it cost in today's money to build something similar to Newport Stadium?
