Sad news that veteran Newport MP Paul Flynn has passed away.

A County supporter and by all accounts a really great guy. No matter what you political allegiance, this guy worked for Newport people.

Reading his comments in the Argus supplement on Saturday, he was clearly thrilled about out Cup run.

RIP.

Met him when coming out of Wembley, after the play-off final and asked him what's it like to be a MP of a football league town

His reply?

During the build up to the 2015 election,the phone rang,and to my surprise it was Paul asking would Labour get my vote on Thursday.I replied by saying I had no strong feelings for any Party but you have done a marvellous job for Newport over many years.As normal,I will be voting Paul Flynn regardless if you were Labour,Conservative or whatever.I could tell my his voice that I had made his day and judging by the number of independent Committees he chaired over the years in the House of Commons,politicians of all sides had full respect for him also.

Paul Flynn R.I.P ....Respect.
