10NEWPORT County AFC is saddened to announce the retirement from playing of defender Fraser Franks.
The 28-year-old, who joined County at the start of this season, has been forced to end his playing career on medical advice due to a heart issue.
Fraser appeared in 320 matches during his senior career, playing for AFC Wimbledon, Welling United, Luton Town, Stevenage and County, scoring 19 goals – including 34 appearances and three goals for the Exiles.
The Club is doing everything it can to support Fraser and his family at this difficult time and there will be further announcements in the coming weeks.

13This is a real shame, he was immense for us once he settled in - he played a huge part in getting us well up the league earlier this season.
