Re: Pipe retiring.
4I thought Pipey would stay with us but understand his reasons for making a clean break from football at the end of the season. I also agree with his point that he has repaid the faith the club showed in him. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Re: Pipe retiring.
6Winning or losing, he always gives 110%. Wishing him all the best for the future
Re: Pipe retiring.
7One of our greatest character: determined, strong and entertaining; the number of times I've seen opposition fans giving him stick and he just smiles and gets on with it; that cross for O'brien and he rubbed my bald head after we won at Crewe 2 seasons ago.
Re: Pipe retiring.
8Just read this and I am shocked, I thought Pipey would at some stage manage Newport if and when Flynny left. Spoke to David after the Macclesfield match he didn't mention his retirement. He is a definite legend and his presence and commitment will be missed by fans and players. I wish him all the very best.
Re: Pipe retiring.
9A big surprise,!!!.................. but Good Luck for the future, David, a superb professional.......always did the job for County and will be missed.... Good Luck David !!..............Bob Bassett
Re: Pipe retiring.
10Sad news for me. Heart and soul of the club. But of course everyone has their shelf life, and the self-aware is able to recognise when that time is. Unfortunately not every player does.
Re: Pipe retiring.
11Many good memories over his time with the club. I wonder which manager he thought the best to play under? He's plenty to choose from!! Hope he gets some minutes during the last two home games to give him a massive round of applause. My only regret is that he hasn't scored in a competitive game, yet. Now if we get awarded a penalty......!!
I wonder if he wants to come out for a few beers after the Morecambe game!!! Oh forgot, we'll need to prepare for the play-offs!!

Re: Pipe retiring.
12First to admit I thought bringing Pipey from FGR was a mistake. Genuinely happy to have been totally wrong.
Great player in both spells for the club. All the best for the future Pipey, whichever direction things take you.

Re: Pipe retiring.
13I wish David well, but I do hope he doesn't close the door on football totally. I think he has lots to offer the game.
I remember when Flynny was meant to have given it up to concentrate on business interests.....glad he came back.
Like many, I assumed David was being groomed to take on a higher profile role on a matchday. It always appeared that way.
