It was after the Hereford match that I really thought we would go up. Oh but what a night: jammed into the little back street pub not far from the station, polce 'escort ' to the match, the 3 penalties (2 ok and a dive by one of our ex players, the sly gesticulation by the Hereford penalty scorer to the crowd, Flynn's word in the ear to the penalty taker, excellent crosses from Sandell for the two headed goals, Wilmott's winner after he was fortunate not to be sent off. It sticks in my mind more than any game apart from the play off final.
