Some refreshing honesty here from Flynn. Far better to tell fans in advance that you'll be resting key players and that they'd be better going on Saturday instead rather than let people spend a lot of time and money to travel to Kent to see a weakened team most likely get beaten.
I'd been pondering going tomorrow (Priestfield is a ground I've been meaning to tick off for a while), but on Flynny's advice I'll book up for Saturday instead!
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
2Asked if he was taking the competition seriously, Flynn said: “No. I’m not taking it seriously.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
4A good opportunity to give O'Brien and Townsend some minutes. Also loanees Nurse and Moloney, which would please their parent clubs.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
5Is it time we did away with the cup competitions - for a number of years top clubs have treated the FA Cup with disrespect which I think is a shame. It is clear that even at our level the money generated by the league is now the major focus albeit at L2 level the FA Cup is still a good earner and would appear the only competition we are interested in.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
6Dont go to Gillingham is good advice, regardless of football............
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
7"Don't go to Gillingham . There's nowhere to stop off for a Burger King !!"
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
8Surprisingly few posts on this.I have to say it's another strange comment from MF.Yes,we expect squad players to get a game but to advise fans not to go.Unless he's been misquoted, this is sending the wrong message to players and fans and disrespectful to the competition and opposition.Flynny is having a funny few days for sure.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
9And it's hardly a confidence booster for the sqaud picked " Don't try too hard lads we don't want to win". NOT a good advertPercy plunkett wrote:Surprisingly few posts on this.I have to say it's another strange comment from MF.Yes,we expect squad players to get a game but to advise fans not to go.Unless he's been misquoted, this is sending the wrong message to players and fans and disrespectful to the competition and opposition.Flynny is having a funny few days for sure.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
10Is this irrational behaviour symptomatic of someone still angry and disillusioned with his employer? If so, then we should be concerned.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
11Just saw Jamma's take on tonight's game in the Gus.Maybe he should do team statements instead.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
12It sends totally the wrong message to the lads on the periphery of the team in my view
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
13Benno in the Gus as well with more sensible advice to County fans.
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
14Hmmm. Like others I am hoping he's been at least a bit mis quoted. If he said something like "if it's a choice for you to go to Gillingham or Saturday's home game then please choose Saturday" or something like that then fair enough. But an outright statement to say don't go is odd...
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
15As it looks like Gillingham might not have a game on Saturday because they are due to play Bury, there's every chance our fringe players will be up against their strongest League One team.
