In two and a half years Flynn has changed Newport County from a struggling Tier 4 side to an upper middle table Tier 4 side in with a shout of making the playoffs.

For a manager in his first job that is very good. Indeed better than Edinburgh who achieved the same type of success rate but who but who had experience and Lotto Les's money.

More impressive still is that his second full season was more successful than his first. And not to acknowledge that would be an error.

Whether at Newport or else where for me the next two tests are the most formidable. Obviously one of which is whether he can kick on. But for me the real acid test, will be how he deals with failure. Sooner or later a team of his will go on a bad run. Unless Flynn truly is the Messiah, and trust me he isn't, there will come a run of games where everything that can go wrong will.

How he copes with that will decide whether he is a truly gifted manager or not. If it happens when he is manager of County I wish him well, if it happens somewhere else I wish him no ill.

Thanks for that NGR. Excellent work. One stat that is missing though is the longest unbeaten run. 17 I believe.
