So long as the police were courteous to those who were at the game I don't really see what the problem was. The job of the police is firstly to keep the peace. It may be that they had intelligence that certain thugs passing themselves off as Swindon supporters were seeking to attack Newport supporters.

It is perfectly proper to be critical of the police when they are at fault but from reading this thread they seem to me to have behaved quite properly.
