80/100 coppers in their riot gear taking us both ways. Cops from Brixham and Torquay!!! It was well over the top for some reason. The only thing I could think is that we were used as a training exercise. Good banter with the cops, but if you wanted to stop for a piss god help you. Zero tolerance. Some thing wasn't right.

Overkill today, nice enough cops but was ridiculous and felt like a criminal... shouldn’t be like that.

I agree. Thought they were expecting a BNP rally. Outnumbered us on the way back.

My experience wasn't that bad at all. Lots of people were allowed out of the cordon to board the coaches and police were explaining to others how to get to car parks when having to set off from the ground in the opposite direction to the on they were expecting.

As I was parked at the railway station I decided to join the kettled supporters for the walk back to the station. Police were very friendly and as we approached the station I explained to one that I wanted the car park rather than the train. I was allowed to slip away when we were close to the station.

At this point our fans were being held, while around a couple of corners the police were breaking up an ugly looking group of home supporters using dogs. Most of our supporters won't have seen this.

While the number of police needed for the overall operation seemed over the top, it did seem to be for good reasons.

Some ugly Swindon supporters! Were they gurning? Maybe a hereditary thing? Disturbing

Maybe they got their dates confused. Plymouth play there in two weeks time and have sold almost 2000 tickets. Or maybe yesterday was a warm up to try out their systems.

It was shockingly OTT, but unfortunately due to the issues 2 years ago this is what happens.

Reminded me of our 3-2 win at Hereford.

I for one felt that despite the large number of police officers on display, at least I felt safe from rival fans. I for one didnt want any trouble as I had my nephew with me.

More than likely a practice event, according to their forum Newport hardly ever take more than 600 but you never know what intelligence, or lack of, they have, the police that is lol
