Bit chilly last night,so I thought I'd air my County scarf ready for Wrexhams visit to Woking on Sat

Couple outside pub in Godalming . recognised the scarf,,turns out the chap was born in Allt-Yr-Yn and moved on after he was 18

I shall continue my Ambassadorial duties with aplomb in deepest Surrey

Here’s my little story....

At the Northampton game last month, at half time a chap approached me and asked if I was Phil. I cautiously said I was, he said he recognised me from the picture in the programme. He said he was so pleased to meet me! It turned out he lives in a village just outside Northampton, born in Newport but been here many years. Whenever a football conversation occurred and people asked him who he supports, he said Newport County, and they would then say.... is your name Phil? (It wasn’t)

Poor chap, living with that for years! Not sure if he frequents this forum.

I felt quite humbled that he picked me out to say hello! We exchanged numbers and may well share a trip in the future.

There’s definitely County fans out there Norm!
