Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
34If the negativity shown by MF in the Argus (if the reporting was accurate) is true then im sure the players never felt they could win today.
Maybe just a bad day and I would happily of taken two defeats by the end of October before the season started.

Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
35Not an easy place to go and I had it down as a 3-0 ( I’m such an optimistic git ) but was hoping against hope for a different result of course. We are just not scoring enough goals atm to be serious automatic promotion contenders are we?
Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
36How many emphatic wins have we had.
A victory today would see us in second position.
Our position is far higher than our match play deserves.
Unless we can start scoring more goals we are heading for mid table.
Unfortunately our defence for a rare occasion also let us down.

Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
37Flynny just reported in Argus basically saying we were crap.
"Defended too deep and nobody talked to each other."
Possibly blamed keeper for 2 & 3.
Poor OB got a big defection on the first also.
Sorry but whose fault is the defending and lack of communication?

Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
38Third game in recent weeks that Flynny has made substitutions at half time. You could say he is decisive when things are not working or,he made big mistakes in team selection and tactics in the first place,a worrying trend.Listening to RW,we were second best for most of the game, their movement on and off the ball was too good for us.6-1 wouldn't have flattered them.
Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
39I see Ryan Jackson scored against us again. I can’t put my finger on it but, to me, good player though he was, he didn’t seem to have any affinity for Newport County. He must love us now though as we guarantee him at least one goal a season.
Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
40A defeat has been coming for a number of weeks ridden our luck and papered over a number of cracks. The midfield has been dominated and overshadowed by Sheehan and the midfield area has been an area of concern all season. They have not covered the defence and supplied our strikers with enough assists. Although our strikers are far too slow and laborious.
Today our usual, reliable, consistent and tight defence have made mistakes and the cracks have been exposed from further up the pitch. Our squad looks stronger than it actually is ! Good Reality Check !
Agree Flynny put a negative spin on the team before the game.

Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
41I was at the game today and after an early goal 4 mins and a decent 15 minutes, we went and surrendered the game to them. They played the best movement of the ball I have seen this season and with more clinical finishing could have won 6-1. Only 1 shot on target , the goal tells its own story. I am a fan of Nurse but he was light weight today, we need Labadie from the start to bolster the midfield. We are not scoring enough goals and at many games this season are not creating enough chances. But we are still in the hunt for promotion.

43lets hope we can get a deal done for Ledley ASAP...midfield is and continues to be our 'Achilles heal'daftasfxxx wrote:Suspended for the next gamewe need Labadie from the start to bolster the midfield
As a unit they dont offer enough cover for the defence or attacking options in attack for us to be classed as genuine promotion candidates
Re: Grandstand - Colchester away
44But according to Radio Wales, before yesterday we had the best defence in the UK and the 6th best in Europeneilcork68 wrote:lets hope we can get a deal done for Ledley ASAP...midfield is and continues to be our 'Achilles heal'daftasfxxx wrote:Suspended for the next gamewe need Labadie from the start to bolster the midfield
