Re: MOM Maldon/Tiptree
62Sheehan for me as well, the only player who looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Honourable mentions to Townsend and Haynes.
Cheers

67It's a weird one, this. He's our best player so I expect him to perform at a certain level. But for Sheehan to win MOM he's got to put in a good performance by his standards. Although he made a few interceptions and at least one penetrating pass I didn't feel he was very influential overall on Friday, though I guess plenty on here did.

68Just judging by the voting you are in a very small minority here.JonD wrote:It's a weird one, this. He's our best player so I expect him to perform at a certain level. Welcome to Corkys world.
Re: MOM Maldon/Tiptree
70I've already voted for Townsend but I don't see what more he could have done given his role in the team.
Re: MOM Maldon/Tiptree
71Good Morning
My vote ( from tv) is for Townsend. Not being a regular number one, and having few opportunities he has to be ready to step in at any time. He seems to accept this role with great patience and dignity. When he has been called on he has played well. This match was a tough one for him. The last line of defence, which disappeared in front of him as the game progressed.
He made an important early block which if he hadn’t would have seen us chasing it early on.
The save in top corner was superb, equivalent to a striker scoring a cracker.

Re: MOM Maldon/Tiptree
72Not sure if this will be allowed - from a slightly drunk 2nd half pub TV view only - Sheehan. Frank - I don't mind if you discount my vote.
I was more concerned about the nearly 12 minutes of injury time. Crazy.

Re: MOM Maldon/Tiptree
73Howkins was down for about seven minutes, add a couple for the foul on Townsend inside stoppage time and three more for the regular bits and pieces and it seemed about right.
Re: MOM Maldon/Tiptree
75For his superb cross from the left, which Podge managed to head into the goal, my vote goes to George Nurse.
