I like to use The original generic names for competitions.
This came to mind with our progression in the Leasing whasitsname trophy which I called the Mickey Mouse cup bit now respectfully call the EFL trophy.
The League cup has had so many sponsors I can't keep up so I call it by it's original name.
The same goes for stadiums, I can't bring myself to call Cheltenham's ground the Johnny Rocks Stadium, it will always be Whaddon road to me.
I noticed that Alan Green calls the Etihad 'Eastlands' which I prefer. Also it will always be the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
What are your thoughts?

I'm with you on this, but it's not about respect. The original names are the only ones that that are generally remembered by all. Especially ground names, where knowing the sponsor funded current name is only of any use if you make an appearance on Pointless.

I agree as I can't keep up either. I know people here who say they are going to the Arms Park when the rugby is on. If they say the Millenium or the Principality or whatever it is bloody called, they say it awkwardly.

Is it true that Spurs fans call their new place White Hart Lane? Had heard that.

Australia's equivalent of the BBC doesn't use sponsor names for stadia, so in Melbourne it's Docklands rather than the Etihad etc.

For me it will always be the Hazell Stand and Terrace, not the Compeed.

For me it will always be the Horlicks stand and Stanna Stairlift stand

For me, it will forever be the Pure Van's stand. The greatest away end in all of the land
