Macclesfield Town can regretfully confirm that head coach Daryl McMahon and assistant head coach Steve Gritt have both tendered their resignations.

We are taking advice from our legal team in relation to this and will provide a further update as soon as possible.

Strange comment from the club. The usual response is to thank them for their efforts and wish them well.

It has been known for a manager to resign when they have a new job lined up but their new club will not pay the compensation. Not saying that's what has happened here.

If that was the case, who could blame him. A new club that would pay regularly would be a bonus. If their loan players go back to parent clubs, they may struggle to put out a competetive team. What player in his right mind would join them in January.

Considering the difficult position they are in they had a creditable win today.

New management team appointed and they'll have to get a move on. Only named four subs yesterday - lost at Colchester - all outfielders.

High court judgement was adjourned last week for a further ten weeks. I think their fans are still of the opinion their owner is just stalling for time. I wouldn't put any money on them completing the season, although their results alone would probably keep them in the league.

BBC Sport reporting three Macclesfield players have applied (successfully) to the EFL to cancel their contracts. This leaves them free to sign for another club in this transfer window (what's left of it). As yet, they haven't been named. They may have a pretty threadbare squad by the weekend. I can imagine players will be rushing to sign up.

It's being discussed on the Macclesfield forum but you can't tell if the names suggested are kosher or on people's wish-lists.

I think that is the only source of information for their fans. Like our forum it's mostly speculation. The official Macclesfield Town website says nothing. When their match with Plymouth was called off by the EFL, their chairman almost simultaneously put out a statement, on the official site, that the game was definitely going ahead.

I see that their fans are happy that they have quite a few home games over the next few weeks and have had a few in previous weeks as it looks like their players should get paid on time

They have confirmed the three are Emmanuel Osadebe, Theo Vassell and Miles Welch-Hayes.

They may give Stevenage some competition for the relegation spot. As well as the danger of points deduction, I suppose it may offer the opportunity for players to seek to end their contracts, although it hasn't worked out well for two of the three who jumped ship in January.
