Well, perhaps I'm being a bit unfair on MD seeing as he's played a couple of dozen times.DeePeeNCAFC wrote:Good point but equally it makes no difference to me. My vote goes to whoever I feel put in the best or most consistent performances when they played, it's hardly their fault if they're injured for part of the season. So, whoever gets the best average score if marks out of ten were awarded. Micky would get my vote.JonD wrote:If my employer ran an employee of the year award and gave it to a bloke who's been on the sick half the time I'd be a bit gutted.
Supporters of my 'other team' (Oxford) gave the player if the year award to Kemar Roofe a couple of years ago, at the time he was on loan from WBA and only played about 11 games yet still got their vote.
Taking it to extremes, someone could play 45 minutes, transform the match, break a leg in the 90th minute but nevertheless be awarded player of the season. It feels wrong (to me) to acclaim someone as player of the season unless they appear in a certain number of games.
I remember Frank (Hi Frank. How you doing?) kicking off because someone always voted for Amond as MOM. I understand (and agree with) Frank's gripe but there's nothing to stop people doing it (unless the Argus stops them, I suppose).
By the way, I've got a good mate who is similarly afflicted re: his 'other' team.
