It won’t be. Was decided yesterday by EFL. Macc now only need to be docked 3 points to finish bottom. So bye bye Macc and hello Barrow and Harrogate.excessbee wrote:I wonder if that was just someone in too much of a rush to produce a revised league table for the website. I'm expecting ppg to be applied before points deductions.

137There will be a lot of clubs wanting Macc to stay up.

138Surely if two are promoted, then Harrogate won't be given the second place. There would have to be a playoff process.faerun exile wrote:It won’t be. Was decided yesterday by EFL. 139Agreed, but for dubious reasons.Marky wrote:There will be a lot of clubs wanting Macc to stay up.

140EFL has stated that there will be a relegation from every division. In relation to EFL2 there is a caveat that the club relegated must have a league to play in so if NL delays the start of 20/21 then maybe Macc or Stevenage will stay up.excessbee wrote:Surely if two are promoted, then Harrogate won't be given the second place. Can't see NL play offs being viable financially - 6 teams to pay for Covid testing, wages etc. More likely that Harrogate will come up on PPG. However, I see that Notts C squad has returned to training so I guess they are expecting some play off action. Who knows ?
Re: END OF 2019-20 SEASON: NEWPORT COUNTY AFC CLUB UPDATE ST
141I guess that the answer is, if you want to be in the playoffs, you'll have to pay the cost of testing. Otherwise, withdraw.
Re: END OF 2019-20 SEASON: NEWPORT COUNTY AFC CLUB UPDATE ST
142As lovely as an away day to Harrogate would be, they're going to find it a financial stretch tearing up their pitch and laying a new grass one.
Re: END OF 2019-20 SEASON: NEWPORT COUNTY AFC CLUB UPDATE ST
143I even wondered if in the New Normal Harrogate might decide to protect the revenue streams a plastic pitch offers and forgo promotion, but they really do want L2. https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... all-league
Question arises whether the EFL will have to stop insisting on grass pitches.

144That could be a win-win situation for us and the WRU.George Street-Bridge wrote:I even wondered if in the New Normal Harrogate might decide to protect the revenue streams a plastic pitch offers and forgo promotion, but they really do want L2. https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... all-league

145But that won't be a decision made on the spot. It can't be seen as done for the benefit of Harrogate. The end of season AGM might discuss artificial pitches but any decision surely can't be implemented until at least the end of next season.

146No please no plastic pitches they are shiteGeorge Street-Bridge wrote:I even wondered if in the New Normal Harrogate might decide to protect the revenue streams a plastic pitch offers and forgo promotion, but they really do want L2. https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... all-league

Re: END OF 2019-20 SEASON: NEWPORT COUNTY AFC CLUB UPDATE ST
147Looks like it may be play-offs in the NL after all. Goes to a vote on Monday. NL is proposing the following in deciding season end:
Places decided on PPG
Top clubs promoted from NL (Barrow), NLN (Kings Lynn), NLS (Wealdstone)
Play-offs at NL (Harrogate, Notts C, Yeovil, Boreham Wood, Halifax, Barnet) but not NLN, NLS
NL 1 team relegated (Chorley)
No NLN, NLS relegation
A kick in the balls for York who finished this season top of the NLN but have dropped to 2nd via PPG and no play-offs.

148Also a kick in the nuts for Truro City who should be promoted to NLS. The no promotion without relegation concept seems to have gone missing here.
Re: END OF 2019-20 SEASON: NEWPORT COUNTY AFC CLUB UPDATE ST
149It's a bit complicated isn't it. Is the plan to expand NLS and NLN to 24 teams still going ahead?
