Cannot stand gambling advertising, even one of my heroes Harry chips in to earn a few bob.
Like Fags should be banned on the TV for sure and why our BOD think its okay to earn a few bob from it is in my humble opinion bang out of order.
Fella in front of me getting my paper didn't look too prosperous then asked for £15 of scratch cards.
99% of us on here are sensible like the occasional flutter but to encourage it is way out of order.

I'm absolutely disgusted hearing this news. What are the club thinking? I have family members who have battled gambling addiction. It wrecks the lives of not just the addict but their families too. Rips them apart. I didn't agree with the past gambling shirt sponsors either. I hope they will all be banned in sport like tobacco and alcohol. It is indeed a new low for County. How low can they go? I usually use 'we' when discussing the club. As its meant to be a supporters run club. But from now on it's 'they' as I'm not being tarnished with such 'initiatives'. Sad and worrying times.

I'm a compulsive gambler, fortunately I have been clean for nearly 3 years. I attend GA meetings every week, not at the moment because of the virus. I have not bought a shirt with any betting company on it. I have no problems with people betting responsibly. But every ex gambler will tell you that apps and on line betting are literally killers
So this app in my personal opinion is not a good idea.

It is RP that sell alcohol at the ground. I'm not even sure we make anything from that. In fact, I think i read somewhere that we don't make any profit from sales of refreshments. Then again, I think this is part of the problem, supporters don't actually know where the money is going.

Maybe if they did, then they may forego the £4 overpriced hot dog in the ground and donate it to the club instead (or even to a stadium trust fund ).

I'm more than happy to be told I'm wrong on this point if County are actually making any profit from beer/soft drinks and food sales.

I believe you to be right but regardless we would take the profit if we could as we did at Bar Amber. Surely we will serve alcohol at our new stadium? I bloody hope so.

I really don't want to come across as facetious as clearly this is a sensitive issue but where do we stand on a moral standpoint with the County Lottery in relation to this debate?

I am open to learn on this because I do agree with the principle of the debate but see what the club has done as 100% legitimate.

Completely agree with your statement, if this goes ahead, I for one will not spend another penny of my hard earned money supporting my local football club, I have never bought any shirt`s that has any association to gambling and never will do.
I say to the BOD, take a look in the mirror and ask your self WHY would you put more misery on a area which already has a very high suicide rate.

Reading the replies on here it is pretty obvious that this is an emotive subject. The honesty is refreshing. Good luck to all you guys who are facing it head on.

My take is this. I do like a small flutter. Every week I bet on football. Sometimes, in big races, the gee gees. Also the Open golf and 6 Nations. A mixture of my own bets and group bets with others.

I never bet more than I want to and do not feel compelled to bet. I guess I am lucky as I don’t feel the need like some. This is part of the problem. Others are not so lucky to have the self restraint. I don’t claim credit for that it’s just how I am.

What does annoy me is this. Due to the lockdown I have had to open other betting accounts as the shops are closed. I am glad that I have the access as it is relatively easy to do. This morning I have had to delete 2 emails from a betting company offering me free Casino spins. I have never bet on line with Casino bets in my life. There is no temptation at all for me as it just ain’t gonna happen. They are trying to suck me in and I get these emails every few days. It is annoying. I also used to get texts but you can opt out of those.

There is a bigger issue at play here. The world seems dominated by targets and performance figures. That seems to be the way we are going. I am pretty certain that an account manager with the betting company has been told to get a certain number of emails out and to get new Casino customers in raising their own performance levels. If and when they meet these targets no doubt they will get a pat on the back. Maybe a rise. Targets, performance. It stinks.

The main problem with on line gambling, is the fact you are not playing with real money. The realisation of how much you have lost only its home the next morning, when you check your bank account or credit card.

In Willesden there are the same; Harlesden and Kilburn even more. I pass by them every day and watch their clientele. All men. Mostly of North African disposal. Maybe some have families but mostly not here that long. This is their 'Pub' a place to socialise. Catch-up throw a fiver at the 3-40 at Kempton.

As I have said, you can't stop vice. And gambling is vice. So there are only two choices with gambling. Either you let organized crime control it or you license it.

Like any rational person I favour the latter. I don't like bookmakers but I appreciate that if you tried to ban them you would succeed only in making things worse.

However if we allow bookmakers we can at least impose restrictions. You wouldn't let children into a bookmakers that is a sensible precaution and restriction. Likewise fixed odds betting machines have been curtailed. My view we should do the same with online gambling.

It is 3-00am. Some young man already in huge debt maxes out his credit card on a dog race taking place in Calcutta. My view is that such a person is in desperate need of help. And as a club who want to address mental illness, to promote such a facility is shameful.

I believe that you to apply a test of reasonableness. And this isn't reasonable.
