John Relish's story of Colin Addison going crazy when O'Brien scored against Notts County was heartwarming, and sums it all up, really.

Little fact for you I was John's postman in mid 80s

Who was he playing against when he scored his first Newport County goal?

Newport County

His first County goal was an own goal when playing for Chester

It was 1972 and I think we won 3-2

Only had a chance to watch the first 9 minutes so far. I’ll watch the rest later. Great interview so far. Two things;

Brian Harris brought him to the County. Rello doesn’t think the Newport people are apathetic! They have a lot in common with Scousers apparently.
I love the way as an outsider he calls the club, the County, as we do.

Me too. We did the double over Chester that year, 2-0 at Sealand Road.

Jammy get has just won £400 on County lottery .... not that I be grudge him a penny of it !! #legend

I first met John in 1975 on a train following County's 1-1 draw at Rotherham.The squad were not on the coach that day. John was the only player who wanted to talk. In 1993 I travelled down from Wrexham (yes Wrexham) with John's brother Jim to Bilston and we caught up after a dour 1-1 draw. John spoke of his love for the County (AFC) but his frustrations with the job; he resigned two weeks later between the Rushden and Bedworth defeats ( both 3-1) when we were at Gloucester.
