What is going on?

How come we are seeing positive COVID-19 tests in recent squads? Two in the Rep of Ireland squad, 20+ in the Fiji rugby squad. I thought that these squads did tests immediately before joining up and are kept in a bubble whilst together?

Presumably it's a combination of things including a less than conclusive testing process and a lack of adherence to distancing guidelines.

Personally I think international football should have been paused. Players from 15-20 different clubs all coming together for a week and travelling abroad to play another pool from 15-20 clubs is just asking for trouble in my opinion. At least club football is the same pool of players all the time so the only at-risk time is during the actual game.

You're probably right, but I'm still thinking my chance of watching football before next season rests on the Euros getting the go ahead. Priority vaccination for ticket holders
