80Hadn't scored in their previous four matches at Vale Park then put two on County. Still, mustn't sulk, still well in there. Who'd have thought Barrow would win at Cheltenham. That's how unpredictable this league is.
Re: Grandstand - Port Vale v Newport County
81"Unpredictable" is a kind word to describe this season's League 2.
My impression of the EFL as a whole, based on Quest and listening to Swansea fans at work, is that the whole lot have gone to pot.

Re: Grandstand - Port Vale v Newport County
82Overall disappointing 90 minutes the three banks defence- midfield - forwards don’t play close enough together or support each other. The 20 mins we did we were well on top.
This for me this was highlighted first half Amond played good cross field ball to Taylor who controlled it well and then had no one to back him up. This isolation means the ball is lost or long balls played backwards.
We need a link man and this is not Labs style - started last night looking for the foul again rather than push forwards it just slows the game.

Re: Grandstand - Port Vale v Newport County
83Yet another night of of unpredictable results with none of the 'promotion contenders' winning. It appears that some teams to date are only slightly more unpredictable than others.
Has the home advantage been diluted by no crowds?
Thought we were beaten by the more motivated and enthusiastic team, fighting for survival, for most of the game last night. Notably it took 2 loan players to spark some life into our performance 2nd half.

84Vale look better than their position in the table. Proverbial game of four quarters. First two we started timid and toothless, great in the third quarter, even fourth. i don't know what has been up with Gambin but surely he has to start on Saturday.
Re: Grandstand - Port Vale v Newport County
85The Radio Stoke commentator remarked that it was unusual for Newport to be playing with wing backs who seemed to have little interest in pushing forward.
Compare last night's Shephard with the corresponding fixture when he ran rampant and very nearly scored.

8711 left not a time to have any regrets. The FA cup squad is built.
Just 442 to it, till we're up or fucked.
