Newport County v Crawley Town.

Meetings between both clubs since 2013:

2013 / 2014:
Johnstones Paint Trophy R2:
Crawley Town (L1) 2-3 Newport County (L2).
Crawley lead 2-0 after twenty three minutes. Chris Zebroski reduced the deficit shortly before the break. Second half goals by Adam Chapman via a penalty and an og by Connor Essam saw County advance to the quarter finals of the Southern area in which they defeated Portsmouth 3-0 at Rodney Parade before losing 3-0 to Peterborough at Rodney Parade in the Southern area semis.

2015 / 2016:
Newport County 0-3 Crawley Town.
Both clubs were among the bottom three prior to this encounter. Crawley were ahead 2-0 at the break with both goals scored by Gwion Edwards. Matt Harrold made it 3-0 around the hour mark. County now had gained only five points from their opening ten league games and thus remained bottom while Crawley were in twenty first position after ten games, four points ahead of County. Manager Terry Butcher was sacked two days after this defeat, replaced by John Sheridan.

Crawley Town 2-0 Newport County.
Crawley were ahead at the break after Scott Boden headed into the wrong net. Shamir Fenelon got the games only other goal during the first ten minutes of the second half. County had Medy Elito sent off late on after receiving a second yellow card. With fourteen games remaining, County were now in nineteenth position, eight points clear of the drop while Crawley sixteenth, fifteen points clear of the drop.

2016 / 2017:
Crawley Town 3-1 Newport County.
Crawley took the lead early on in the third minute from James Collins. County were level at the break after Joss Labadie scored around thirty three minutes. Two goals in the first eight minutes of the second half from Josh Yorwerth and Jimmy Smith were the games only other goals. Josh Sheehan missed a penalty for County. In what proved to be a bad tempered game, thirteen players received yellow cards, eight for County, but surprisingly no red cards. County were bottom after twenty games, four points from twenty second position while Crawley were eleventh after twenty one games, two points outside the play-offs.

Newport County 1-0 Crawley Town.
A first league victory over Crawley in four attempts. The games only goal came around eighteen minutes from Mickey Demetriou. County's Joss Labadie and Crawley's  Josh Yorwerth were sent off on fifty one minutes. This was Mike Flynn's first victory at Rodney Parade as manager of County. With six to play, County were five points from avoiding the drop.

2017 / 2018:
Crawley Town 1-2 Newport County. Mark Connolly headed Crawley in front after half an hour. Mickey Demetriou equalized for County with around six minutes before the break. Demetriou got his second and the games only other goal around fifty one minutes. County were now seventh after ten games while Crawley nineteenth after ten games.

Newport County 2-1 Crawley Town.
A well attended game on a Friday evening due to ticket priorities for the upcoming FA Cup game against Spurs just eight days later. County were 2-0 ahead at the break with late goals from Padraig Amond and a penalty from Mickey Demetriou. Jimmy Smith scored early on in the second half for Crawley. County were now within the play-offs with eighteen to play while Crawley were mid table.

2018 / 2019:
Crawley Town 4-1 Newport County.
A third heavy defeat for County with less than a third of the season played. Joe Maguire put Crawley ahead in the first minute and the scoreline remained the same by half time. Jamille Matt equalized for County around fourteen minutes into the second half. A penalty from Filipe Morris and further goals from Ollie Palmer and Ashley Nathaniel-George earned Crawley a comfortable victory. Crawley received five yellows while County had one yellow and Fraser Franks received a red with County already trailing 4-1. After fourteen games, County were in fourth position, five points within the play-offs, while Crawley were eighth.

Newport County 0-0 Crawley Town.
Played around Christmas time, this was the only point County gained in six matches while this was Crawley's only point in six games also, having lost their previous five.

2019 / 2020:
Newport County 1-1 Crawley Town.
Before this match, County were in fourth position while Crawley were thirteenth. Ashley Nathaniel-George opened the scoring for Crawley from the penalty spot on thirty five minutes after Danny McNamara conceded the penalty for handball. County's leveler also came from the spot, Tristan Abraham's converting after Robbie Willmott had been fouled. County had eight shots on target to Crawley's one.

2020 / 2021:

If this means we lose 4-0 so be it- at this stage it is the same as 1-0.
If however we actually score a few goals then our slim chance of a play off spot might still survive.
If we do manage an early goal then do not try and hang on (it will not work) but throw everything at them to get a second.
Flynny has lost 25 points from winning positions this season,it doesn’t work.Just think,if only half of those points had been retained then,we would be top.
