Now closing in Town very sad news oldest shop in Newport as well my Wife now looking for another job :cry:

They had the franchise for school uniforms back in the day. It was always a dark day having to go there ahead of the new school year.

Is Owen Owen still around? It replaced Reynolds if I remember correctly(?).

I did a lot of electrical work in Owen Owen - above all the 1970's false ceilings was all the original plaster covings and an original Reynolds sign was in the void above the entrance.

They had their own staff canteen on the top floor -it was all very Are You Being Served.

Agreed very sad day indeed. Inevitable sign of the times. Hope your wife gets another job. Does she fancy one at the Ivy Bush?

Yes. I can still remember going there in the 1940's to be kitted out with my St. Julian's school uniform.
