Always thought that it was "England & Wales" when it came to cricket (and Ireland, South Africa and New Zealand too for that matter!)

Correct. The National authority is known as the England and Wales Cricket Board. Another anomaly though. It is shortened to the ECB, not the EWCB. That was deliberate at its inception. Bloody ridiculous. Another example imo of English power and arrogance.
