Anybody winning!

I’m not!

Waiting on “just a sting” in the last.

Morning Phil. Big day today. No winners for me so far, I have had three seconds with three free bets so no point in me giving tips today. Just put my bets on, fingers crossed

Put my free bet on Native River in the big one. I will have another bet that he comes second. Bound to happen with my Cheltenham luck so far.

I am not a betting man. However I once had a long conversation with a professional gambler. He told me that there were any number of ways that to find a value bet. A value bet not necessarily being a winning bet but one where the odds offered are better than the real odds. So if bookies offer 6/1 and the real odds are 5/1 you should make the bet even though you think there is an 80% chance you will lose.

He also said that the best way to find such value was to look at the odds of the outsider in a three horse race. Often this gives value because people bet on the two favourites. He said that whilst his thing was horses, often in team sports the draw provided real value. Supporters tend to bet on their team.

Wales are evens to beat Ireland tomorrow. Ireland are evens to beat Wales. Paddy Power are offering 18/1 against the draw.

Go draw.

Good Afternoon

I managed to keep my reckless betting tendencies at bay this year, mainly by not having the week off work.

My £1 free bet on the first winner Friday at 20/1. Then a fiver lost in Gold Cup.

Thankfully account balance about the same as start of the week.

I organise a tipping competition at work,

£5 entry, one horse a race, was going nicely, a few people getting decent winners, then one woman, who knows nothing about racing picks her only winner out of 28 at 66/1 to win it!

A mugs game indeed!
