Employment Law?

1
Need a bit of advice from any legal eagles out there.

My 18yr old daughter is working for a company and has (as has all their employees) been e-mailed today stating that they had a stock audit and there was a discrepancy and losses of ‘x’ amount ..
As they “treat all our employees the same” every employee will have money deducted from their wages unless the culprits are shopped.
She doesn’t earn much and trying to save towards Uni so she’s really upset.

Is this even legal? Can they get away with it?

The staff should refuse to agree to it and call their bluff by demanding that they call in the Police to deal with the matter .

Cheers, that’s what I thought. I can’t see how they can get away with it but she should get her payslip tomorrow and we’ll see if they carry it through.

Sure there not aloud when I worked in retail any discrepancies had to be investigated fully to catch the culprit couldn't just take money from people pay unless there was evidence it was them.

I have a friend who knows his stuff I'll give him a text if you like
