Virtual Grand National

Postby phil_in_npton » April 2nd, 2020, 5:10 pm

Good Afternoon

This Saturday would have seen country wide interest in the Grand National which obviously has been cancelled.
However ITV will be showing a computer generated “virtual” Grand National, on Saturday at the same time as the race would have been. (5-15 I think)
Bookmakers are taking bets and reportedly donating profits to the NHS.
The “virtual” race has been shown on a Friday night prior to the race for the last couple of years, it is very life like!
Will it grab the same kind of interest?
Will you bet on it?

Ladbrokes limiting to tenner a horse.
I had a bet on Tiger Roll in the real thing, placed immediately after last years race, that has been refunded. I don’t now think he will do it, in a virtual race, after his Cheltenham run.
My choice is Irish National winner Burrows Saint. (12/1)

What’s your thinking on all this?

How have you made ur choice Phil? I don't usually bet on horses but sometimes I do on the National. Is it based on form, sp, colours or in ur case because ur from Northampton, as in the Saints? Lol

Hi Elmo

It’s just an instinct, from a general interest and awareness of the sport, an accumulation of knowledge through listening to radio interviews and opinions of racing people.
Being a computer generated event I expect less “unpredictability “ than in the real live event.
Not sure a big priced winner will be the outcome but who knows!
