Re: Meanwhile in India
But playing a sweep-shot to your first ball wasn't the best of plans. Joe Root is effectively opening the batting.

I was just about to say ‘he isn’t anymore’ but he survived that one. Phew.
Re: Meanwhile in India
All bordering on farce now

Re: Meanwhile in India
Slow and steady is no use now. England need to try to bash their way to 140ish. Archer batting at eight is not encouraging.
Re: Meanwhile in India
Come on foakes if we can get 100 lead who knows
Re: Meanwhile in India
Sorry how could third umpire give foakes out the bat was to close

Re: Meanwhile in India
If that was a county championship game the home side would be looking at points deducted
Re: Meanwhile in India
I haven't seen much of the game but, judging by the scores and Joe Root getting a five for then,I think the pitch is a bit suspect,to say it takes spin is not over stated.
Re: Meanwhile in India
Yet India beat Aus on their own turf...
They do have a quality squad.
Despite the hammering.. England have to be praised to endure bio secure bubbles etc for all this time.
Stokes looks as if he's on another planet and we just don't have batsmen who are skilled enough to dig in and stay
All very frustrating

Less than two weeks ago Bairstow was walking his dog in the snow in Yorkshire. they fly him over and say ''go out and bat son at number 3'' .Hardly ideal preparation
Stokes looks like his mind isnt on it and hasnt got over his dad dying a few months ago
Sending home a batsman after one game of a 4 game Series ?
! spinner chosen on a turning wicket ?
4 Seamers on a turning wicket who bowled less than 20 overs between them and took 1 wicket ?
Bess played well in the first game , then dropped ??
The management well and truely cocked it up for this game
Granted England played pathetic on a pig of a pitch but get it right off the field first to give yourself a chance
Re: Meanwhile in India
England made more than 200.
Drop 2 bowlers
How many India going to amass tomorrow?300?

Oh dear. A very good start but it all went wrong. I think "umpire's call" is worse than VAR. Bess bowled a beauty to one of their high scorers. It hit his pad in front of middle stump. The umpire said not out, but the TMO showed that it was hitting the top of middle stump. Apparently that's not enough to be out, so it went back to the "umpire's call".
Re: Meanwhile in India
Watching Bess having his 'mare today, while both seamers struggled with illness, I pondered why they hadn't picked a third seamer.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't
