The Ashes

Postby mad norm » November 22nd, 2017, 4:39 pm

Down under it's almost upon us
Fancy it will be closer than some think
Think our bowlers are the key and not necessarily the batsmen.
Cool heads are important
Any comments folks?
Nice to keep this thread going throughout the series
(To take our minds off our skillful plummet downwards  )

A gamble with rookies and a few where the jury is still out.Finn and/or Plunkett should have gone plus Hales.Number 6 could be a problem with Vince or Malan not convincing and Foakes untried.Stoneman is finding his feet at test level but I would have taken Robson as well just in case.He is Aussie born so knows the conditions.Too many inexperienced players I fear but let's hope they are fearless and do the biz but some may freeze.

Root is the key man for me

I'm just wondering if this could be Jimmy and Alistair's last tour

2-2 I'm going for

Yeah because that could never happen hey.
Since 2002 Aus have won 3 of the 4 series down under, results being 4-1, 5-0, 5-0.
I just don't think this England team have got what it takes to win a series down under.
I hope I'm wrong and Ingerrelund win.

What score do you predict then?

We are a well oiled machine
The only problem is the best batsman in the world is still in
Crucial first test this...... fascinating
Result? 3-2 England
Optimistic ?yes

Well England have gone from a great position having them at 74-4 and 213-7 but now they're in real trouble. Need a big partnership tomorrow to save this.

England go from 136-2 to 199 all out.Australia win by ten wickets
England 269 all out.Australia 201 all out

Which result the more likely?

Wish they'd sort this Stokes business out, the Aussie quicks will tire and they'll be a one man team, it's there for the taking.
