Odd thing.

Any one who deals with statistics will tell you that where you have a low base there is a much greater likelihood of odd things being observed. An obvious example being after six games a team being towards the top of the league with a negative goal difference is not too unlikely.

However it strikes me as odd that after seventy odd games and a very good win to lose ratio we still have a large negative goal difference.

This is what someone commented at the ground last match, that our place in the table doesn't seem like it's for real. Like we're due a fall at some point because we're not killing off matches and dominating teams like a 4th placed side should be.
He has a point, in as much as the average league place currently occupied by a team with a negative GD is 17th...... now, I don't think we'll finish QUITE as low down as that, but certainly somewhere around 10th wouldn't surprise me unless we get more ruthless with opponents.
Currently, and I stress currently, with the bottom 2 teams not picking points up over time, we are actually only one win away from avoiding relegation....CURRENTLY that is.

Interesting that.

My own view and a very tentative, I stress tentative, is that County have developed a style of play which works. We defend deep, we are difficult to break down and we have a habit on sneaking a goal.

Sometimes, when it doesn't work, we get a stuffing. Plymouth, Yeovil, etc. For as long as I can remember watching County within five minutes of kick off if the opposition were a pressing side I have feared the worst.
