This ones for Stan :
3. Newport County need a 15,000 to 30,000 seater stadium or just a bigger stadium so in the future fans won't miss out on big games like the Manchester City game?

4. We need to setup a committee or group of people from the Business community to advise the current Board of Directors where to look for investment for the Club and how to approach Businesses for investment. There's lots of ways that Businesses could invest in Newport County and pay less taxes?
1) What do you expect NCC to do? Budgets are being cut year on year, partly due to social care costs caused by an ageing population and the inherent illnesses old age brings. Simply put there isn't the money.
2) What businesses do you suggest get involved? City centre businesses? Those very businesses that are struggling to stay open. Large employers in the area? Do you honestly believe that any business of note within the Newport area haven't already been approached or do you think the County Commercial department have merely been sitting on their arses for the past x number of years.
3) Newport County need a new stadium. Wow! No-one ever thought of that. And lets make it bigger than our current one. Wow! And there was most of us thinking we should go smaller.
4) See 2 above.

I'm sorry but you really are setting yourself up for ridicule...

I acknowledge the demands on Council money, particularly in a run down City like Newport. So the Council can consider to maintain that downward spiral or do something about it. Last Saturday’s game probably contributed at least £500,000 to the local economy on that one day alone. A stadium that is fit for purpose could help attract many more such days.

However I won’t be holding my breath on any help being forthcoming from the Council, they had a golden opportunity to secure a lasting legacy at the time of the RP sale and fluffed it.

If Newport City Council were to push the WRU hard enough you will find that Newport City Council would win every time without breaking to much of a sweat. So my belief is that the WRU would sell Rodney Parade for a small profit.

The WRU have stated that any profit made from developing the cabbage patch, will be split between all the regions. If that's not a disincentive, I'm not sure what is?
But brown paper is very greaseproof ! Cogs need lots of lubrication.

Would they pay taxes on any profit that is made from the sale of Rodney Parade?

Isn’t that a pacifier as the other regions are starting to be critical of the disproportionate amount of subsidy going into the Dragons to cover their losses?
If that assumption is correct then it helps support the view that the Dragon’s future is numbered, and/or County will get absolutely shafted in terms of a potential rent increase in any new lease that is offered.

I don't get the argument about the council not being able to afford it.

Check their accounts, they definitely can. Furthermore, it's not like they're giving away hard cash. They would be exchanging cash (currently earning nothing in real terms) for property assets with three guaranteed tenants. If they're as hard up as some are suggesting there's a good investment case for doing it, let alone an ethical obligation.

Heres a reality check for you Newport Council have promised a contractor a loan of £8.9 million pounds to take over Newport Market on a 250 year lease. In return they will get 15% of the rent.
Sort of blows the argument of not having any money to invest in the City.
Could have bought RP for half the price and secured the future of professional sport in the City and probalbly earned more rent.

Their accounts are publically available. There are hundreds of millions of liquid reserves, a small proportion of which could surely easily be exchanged for bricks and mortar, and the return made better for them.

The argument they can't afford it is not a valid one. Obviously we should have to chip in as well, but there is without question a moral duty to do something to help.
