Re: Next step?

League 2 too simple solution to sort out promotion.

Bottom 16 teams playoff single game
8 winners and top 8 playoff single game
8 winners playoff single game
4 winners promoted.

Could be sorted out in a week playing Saturday Tuesday Saturday.

Far too simple to be implemented, I'm sure other solutions can be found.

So if the season were to be curtailed today, this is how I would place them:

TEAM NAME.......PLD.....PTS......
Swindon Town .....36........69........88
Crewe Alexandra 37........69.........86
Plymouth Argyle..37.........68.........85
Cheltenham Town.36.......64.........82
Exeter City............37.......65.........81
Northampton T......37.......58.........72
Port Vale..............36........56.........72
Colchester U........37........57.........71
Bradford City........37........54.........67
Forest Green.......36........49.........63
Salford City..........37........50.........62
NEWPORT CO....35.......46.........60
Walsall.................36.......47..........60
Grimsby Town......37.......47..........58
Crawley Town......37.......46..........57
Cambridge...........37.......45..........56
Leyton Orient......36........42..........54
Oldham Athletic..37........41..........51
Carlisle United ...36.........39..........50
Scunthorpe U......37........40..........50
Mansfield Town...36........38..........49
Morecambe.........37........32..........40
Macclesfield T.....37........30..........37
Stevenage..........36.........22..........28

Promotion Play-Offs could be decided upon by the drawing of straws for who goes up.
I agree with that except I'd do away with play-offs.

The government is about to isolate anyone over 70 for months if the press stories are correct

This is going to drag on and the start of next season looks distant as well
Well how daft is that.
I am 70 touch wood never ever had a stay in hospital never had the flu.
Run 5k in 29 minutes and they want me to lock myself away for 4 months.
You cannot make this up.
I know unfortunately very unhealthy people 20 years younger than myself.
Have plans by all means but don't come out with daft ideas like that.
Quite righr Frank. I'd do it the other way around. Everyone under 60 should have to isolate themselves. They're the ones running around spreading the virus, and there would be plenty of toilet rolls left for us old guys.

I personally can't wait perhaps us workers will be able to get doctors appointments now and get to the counter at post offices
Well in your own words, that sums you up.

Look on the bright side - its given you something different to moan about.

If it gets implemented it might safeguard as many people of your age group as possible, is that really an unreasonable proposition?
You totally miss the point with your second paragraph.
Vulnerable people are in every age bracket.

No you totally miss the point, the risk of you jogging about your normal routine and bringing the virus home to your good lady? I'd think for every one of your apparent fighting fit 70 year olds, there'll be many more who still live as married couples, but one of whom won't be fighting fit and at extreme risk if their husband/wife carried on as normal and infected them

Sorry but this is nuts.
My good lady is far fitter than me, never had flu and had just one night in her life in hospital apart from the kids being born.
Why would a fit 70 year old bring home the virus to a very fit 65 year old anymore than any other age.
Correctly if you are vulnerable at any age take precautions but carte blanche 70 is nuts.
Just to repeat vulnerable people are in every age bracket.

Seriously all you need to do is have a look at County supporters over RP, so many look very frail and lots well under 70.

Good Afternoon

Jim, has your viewpoint turned full circle? I remember you said flu is worse and merits more worry, and this is blown out of all proportion?
I’m not sure we can avoid what’s coming in the next few weeks, many people will die, that would not have done if this wasn’t a serious threat.
I also don’t think all the general public, older or not, will comply to instructions given out for the greater good. People are too selfish.
Until it affects any one personally, in close family or friends, it’s easy to ignore the severity of it. When it’s too late they might be saying “ if only he/she/they had stayed indoors”

Phil in Northampton

Ps. Sorry Jim, it seems I’m targeting your opinion specifically, I just think we had a different viewpoint from the start. Happy to disagree, debate and stay safe together!

Hiya Phil all im saying is the last death figures for flu where 17,000 in England alone don't know figures for Wales and Scotland or Ireland

But again I will say we don't hear much about that

I work on front line of NHS with full contact with patients im doing what i always do wash my hands after every patient with soap or hand gel

We all have a roll to play
