Re: Chess
2Jim, you’d be absolutely amazed by how much chess cheating has gone on in the past. They have tightened up the rules but it still goes on. Normally it is signals from other people in the audience but the authorities are on to it. Modern chess computers will smash even an International Chess Grandmaster these days.
Magnus Carlson is adamant that his opponent cheated but he has not put a full statement out yet. Over the past year or so his opponent rose from over 800 in the World rankings to within the top 50 when he beat World Champion Carlson easily. Carlson refused to play against him in a recent group tournament but still won his round robin group. There is more to this than meets the eye.
Quick chess question for those who are interested - what is the smallest number of moves from start to check mate?

Re: Chess
3The allegation being made here is incredible, if the summary on Have I Got News For You was accurate.
Apparently, the alleged cheat had ‘anal beads’ inserted in his, ahem - you know where - which gave him a computerised/electrical prompt as to the best chess move to make.
Perhaps we ought to consider something similar at County? JR controlling from a PC on the touch line, prompting our defenders to pass to the midfield, and the strikers to pile onto the back post to get a nod-in?
