South African cricket struggling to find black players
Funny old world
Its historical and just the way it is somewhat - take Rugby union in Ireland is generally middle class - GAA across all backgrounds (although more rural overall) and 'soccer' more urban/working class (and/or Northern where interestingly rugby is more farmer fed as it were) - exceptions are there of course working class rugby is strong in Limerick for example.

Ditto SA - Football was always a game played in/by black communities cricket/rugby whiter and more middle class - equally if you're a sporty kid and good at ball sports then football will be the one that's a golden ticket to riches.

Always baffles me when BBC keep saying they have no money yet can find money to show these games live
They've shown the Africa Cup of Nations for around twenty years now. Minimal fees to show that in comparison to the Premier League rights.

This line of thinking is exactly why so much football ISN'T in the BBC. If they actually invest in one of the few areas of growth in linear TV - live sport - people complain about how they shouldn't be showing it because they're publicly funded. But then complain when they end up on pay TV!

Half of the BBC's football budget has gone on BACS payments to 'Wrexham Hollywood enterprises ltd' (a small % came to us as well tbf!).
