Away averages so far this season. We are doing pretty well 7 games in, plus we have "local" trips to FGR, Cheltenham, Swindon and Yeovil to come. Would prob average above 400 if there hadn't been a limit at Exeter.

Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
2So as it stands, around 11% of our average number of home fans travel away.
I wonder how that compares to other teams.

Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
3Grimsby must be heavily skewed by local fixtures. They brought 243 to Newport yet their average is over 1000.
Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
4Probably pretty high. Although these stats tend to be more interesting at the end of the season, 1,000+ at Swindon, FGR and Cheltenham will make our figures even better. Now how to get the figures up at home is the problem. We know from the Notts County game the potential is there.newgroundrodney wrote:So as it stands, around 11% of our average number of home fans travel away.

5In reply to my own question.excessbee wrote:Grimsby must be heavily skewed by local fixtures. They brought 243 to Newport yet their average is over 1000.
Grimsby have played five away fixtures totalling 5210 travelling fans, of which over half (2650) were at Chesterfield on the opening day of the season. Next highest comes 1252 at Mansfield. The other three are 770, 295 and 243.
Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
6Don't tell me the Barcelona of West Sussex are second from bottom, obviously those huge home crowds they get don't travel well
Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
7Decent considering, as has been said earlier, we have Swindon, Yeovil, FGR & Cheltenham to go to.

11And worthy of note, is that by way of comparison, the average number of away fans VISITING us at Rodney Parade is 218..... so we take considerably more away than other clubs bring to us.faerun exile wrote:Our away fans this season:

Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
12Good point. I think that the 218 will increase. We haven't entertained any of the big guns yet - Coventry, Exeter, Luton, Notts, Swindon and maybe Lincoln. All will be in the mix for promotion when they play us.newgroundrodney wrote:And worthy of note, is that by way of comparison, the average number of away fans VISITING us at Rodney Parade is 218..... so we take considerably more away than other clubs bring to us.faerun exile wrote:Our away fans this season:

I suspect we will travel in good numbers to Cheltnum and Yeovil and if we can maintain an away average of 400-450ish then that will be the highest since we returned to the FL.
Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
13Could be lower than expected with Coventry and Luton moved to Friday night because of the rugby.
Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
14Cov is on good Friday so should be a decent gate. If Luton are still flying along then would think they would be close to selling out.Goddard & woods wrote:Could be lower than expected with Coventry and Luton moved to Friday night because of the rugby.
Re: FL2 2017/18 Away Attendances
15It will make a change if they do. Luton's away following has generally been very poor previously.
