Looking down the other end of the telescope, ignoring the rugby completely we don't want to do anything ourselves which will damage the pitch long-term for our own future use.
That seems to have happened at Spytty the year we were readmitted to the Welsh Cup when we played a tie against Barry Town which by some accounts should never have started let alone finished. .
Re: TODAY - Exiles v Forest Green Rovers
227I'm trying to keep an eye on the park here in Sheffield with an eye to Mansfield tomorrow night. Most of the snow has thawed and the temperature is forecast to be above freezing now until late in the game so fingers crossed.lowandhard wrote:I’ll do my best! Thought that it had outlived its usefulness, perhaps not. I would have liked to have seen the pitch at RP say an hour after it had stopped raining, is it slow to drain or have the drains failed ( again ) ? I wonder.Amberexile wrote:Nice to see a post back on topic.
I was wondering on Saturday what your test pitch was looking like. Good to see that it may still be of relevance to RP conditions.
I trust you will keep us updated on its condition during the run up to this weekend.
Re: TODAY - Exiles v Forest Green Rovers
228As stated previously.
Rugby Friday
Soccer Saturday
Rugby Sunday.
Lets see what it looks like Monday.
Seriously depending on the weather next weekend.
Just getting back to the vitriol against me earlier.
I would like to point out that my comment the "pitch was wrecked" was following as I always do on a Saturday morning look at the BBC Football Text.
On there was the main feature stating County off (waterlogged)
the picture showed a wrecked pitch which at the time I didn't realise was a library picture from the crap pitch of 12 months ago.
But I still wish you all well despite the abuse suffered.
Similar to Stan its water off a ducks back.
Nobody has commented on the current photo showing no goal posts in place.
Would add to the conspiracy theory maybe.

Re: TODAY - Exiles v Forest Green Rovers
229If you look at the top end it looks like the posts are lying on the grass, as the game was in doubt I bet the ground staff couldn't be arsed to put them up as the poor devils would have had to take them down again (with rugby due on it this Friday) ... If the rugby posts were still up then that would really have got people going..

We now have a conspiracy theory as the photo shown on the website I believe from the Argus shows the pitch with no goal posts up but as Exile stated just lying on the floor.
Is that another library photo? no chance as all the astro is clearly in view.
Taken after game postponed (why would ground staff bother)
Taken before, but ground staff always change posts straight after rugby if game on next da.
Not worried either way or whether third answer.
Its most odd though.
Cheers
Harps

238On the test shown in the above video, with the weather forecast due to improve was the ref hasty and could have given it another hour? I’ve seen games played where the ball “ran” a hell of a lot worse than that. Although it held up a little or rather “aquaplaned” a bit , the ball continued to roll at the end of that bit of film.

Your photo.
Goal posts up.
Page 13 No goal posts supposedly taken before the game
Re: TODAY - Exiles v Forest Green Rovers
240The photo on page 13 was tweeted out at 2:06. The game was off by then. Obviously they were taken down when the game was called off.
