Apparently I’m now the subject of Tweetgate. I bought my tickets on Saturday morning when queues were non-existent, hence the tweet. I buy 2 season tickets every year, and always pay for my cup entitlement. I’ve also paid for a hospitality table for Saturday. Hope that’s ok?
Shows up the quite frankly moronic and embarrassingly idiotic attitudes of certain posters on here.

It's kinda OK. But nonetheless there have been issues with ticketing for the big FAC games as many people know and have experienced. My circumstances are a bit different so I was OK to (shall we say) be persistent.. Interesting re the hospitality - would
have liked that but didn't bother to try this time as my 'expression of interest' emails went unanswered last time. Just saying

I thought the message was clear that if our "incompetent board" could manage to achieve the task of picking up their tickets then.. Well you get the drift.

Keep up the stellar work. Tired of seeing our club being attacked during such a positive period. Up the County!
I've supported some of SEs rants in the past, as he has invariably made some good observations. However, he appears to be in a real minority this time so don't take it to heart.

That said, i do hope a ticketing system is on the to-do list with our cup windfall so long as it's not stupid expensive.

FWIW, I actually bid on a ticket on Ebay earlier which I would have given to Mr Cork if I'd been succesful; alas, the price being asked for has now gone to ridiculous territory so I'm out.

I managed to get a ticket over the phone for the Leicester game after waiting a few days before trying. Likewise for Man City I rocked up at 11.45 on Saturday with zero in the queue. So if you are not buying tickets adjacent to each other, just your season ticket seat, it was fairly simple as Kevin alluded to.
However as a club, it is better if people utilize their plus one tickets, as these may be used by future supporters.
For those like myself who have a season ticket, but live an hour away from home games, the plus one is less of a option.
For this reason I think the club could restrict the priority period telephone sales to those just buying one ticket, or at a push two adjacent, but without plus ones. This would then give exiles a good chance, against those who live locally but didn't fancy queing in the rain.

I do feel the pain of those who missed out.

But if its a question of 20k on a ticketing system which would be used for less than 1% of our existence or signing a fully fit Labadie for next season, and maybe having to queue for 3 hours in the rain, then I'm picking the footballing option on this one.

I'm on board with the stadium planning, 8000 of us turning up week in, week out, paying the trust a fiver.. We could have something that could fit us all in, ticketing system or no system. I just know this hostility doesn't help.

I don't believe that Kevin Ward was mocking people without tickets.

However to boast of having four tickets when clearly genuine supporters were failing to get any is insensitive.

That's my view. You are free to disagree with that view.

How it is possible to perceive my view as a rant is utterly beyond me, and I expect anyone with more than half a brain cell.

Prior to this post there have been 226 posts on a non story. From what I've seen and heard there are tickets going around at face value, so pretty much everyone (including Neil) can get one if they can be bothered to do something positive to get them. Starting threads about "plastics" isn't doing something positive.
Looking forward to rubbing shoulders with people who only come now and then. They'll contribute to a fantastic day/night.

ANOTHER WAY OF LOOKING AT THINGS

I was musing on the rhetoric about "plastics" earlier whilst having my morning swim and was struck by something. The spa where I go for my swim is a pretty smart place - I joined purely out of convenience because it's located by my office, but many people go there on Fridays and Saturdays for Hen Parties or Spa Weekends. Now, those people tend to rather get on the nerves of us normal members - they hog the jacuzzi, get in the way of people swimming lengths in the pool, and won't shower between using the steam room and other facilities. To be honest, I often won't bother going at all on Fridays because it's just too much faff.

But here's the thing. Annoying though that is, I accept the fact that their money is as good as mine, and one of the reasons my membership fee is affordable is because it's basically subsidised by wealthy people paying silly money for their spa breaks. The place could probably just about keep going with members alone, but their profit basically comes from the people who only come occasionally but pay through the nose to do so.

You can see where I'm going with this, can't you?

That's basically why I can't bring myself to share Neil's anger about "plastics" getting tickets for the Man City game. I've said elsewhere why I don't recognise that term, but those who do use it must accept simple facts. Newport County AFC run at a loss in a 'normal' season. The one way we've made a profit in recent years and become half-sustainable is through cup runs where we can sell many more tickets and do so at inflated prices. The people who buy those tickets are, if you like, subsidising the football club so that you and I have someone to watch week-in week-out against the likes of Crawley and Macclesfield.

Just like the Hen Parties at my local health spa, you don't have to like them - but you can't pretend that they aren't needed if you want to continue to enjoy your hobby at an affordable price.
