See as Joe Day is getting 7k a week now how much do you think he puts away for when he has to retire from the game

Just out of interest, how do we know Joe Day is on £1,000 a day? Or to put it another way £365,000 pa.

I'm not saying he is not, I neither know nor care, but how do we know?

I know I'm going slightly off topic, but why is it when footballers, and managers pay is mentioned it is always x amount per week. Surely those on a one year or + contracts are paid monthly on a yearly salary?

No. He will have a good accountant. Unless he is an idiot trust funds for his children's education, pensions, government bonds, et al. His tax bill will probably be not that much higher than yours.

I see your point. Although I suspect we tend to hear far more about the players that go off the rails and not so much about those who don't.

Doesn't a sizeable portion of their wage have to go into a pension? (Accessible at age 35).

I'm sure that used to be the case, and may still be.

No he doesn't. He lives in a modest house in Rogerstone. I've recently worked on it. Lovely guy, young family, only has good things to say about County too
