Re: Grandstand - Macclesfield at Rodney Parade
47Like your optimism Joe, but I’m just not sure. If we win our 3 games (in hand) that will take us up to 7th. We just need to get a 3/4 game winning run together but I’m not sure we are consistent enough at the moment to do it. I hope I’m wrong but, to me it looks like we will end up just outside the play offs.Willthiswork wrote:...and on track for the play offs again.
Plymouth next and we do better against the top teams. We’ll see. Great result last night, to be honest with their recent form I suspected a draw at best. Great 3 points. Well done the County.
Re: Grandstand - Macclesfield at Rodney Parade
48Hard slog but I'd rather win ugly than lose a thriller. Only watched on iFollow but I thought we gave too much ball away and lost momentum when Green went off. Good illustration of L2 foootball as a hard way to earn a living.

49The Anti Willmott boys are still about.
The lad can only play where he's put, I thort he done his best especially in the 2nd half.

Why do you assume that they’re anti Willmott just because they didn’t think he played well? (which he didn’t) and was played out of position (which he was and of no fault of his own)
In fact, the one poster that said he looked ‘lost and disinterested’ is probably his biggest fan too!!
P.S. Only three posters even mentioned his name and one of them was to praise his performance.
Re: Grandstand - Macclesfield at Rodney Parade
51Not a dazzling insight, but it looks impossible to play all three of Baker, Green and Willmott in their best roles and can the other two play anywhere else?

Out of position again, looking disinterested.
Our one weak link last night.
A very good right winger who unfortunately will be overshadowed by the pocket rocket unless he gets injured.
Not his fault but Flynny has far to much regard for the lad putting him in any position
regardless of better options available.
Re: Grandstand - Macclesfield at Rodney Parade
53Baker and Green if fit guaranteed starters, George Nurse should of played in Robbies roll last night.George Street-Bridge wrote:Not a dazzling insight, but it looks impossible to play all three of Baker, Green and Willmott in their best roles and can the other two play anywhere else?
Flynny got it wrong.
Baker is a right full back and Green attacking right sided player so no need to play out of position.
Re: Grandstand - Macclesfield at Rodney Parade
54Two thoughts on Willmott last night:
- He was getting into all the right positions, but his final ball was poor. That happens sometimes for wingers, it's not the end of the world. The main thing is that he worked hard in an unfamiliar position on the left and caused the fullback issues - he just needs to work on his delivery with his left foot.
- Following on from the above, I was surprised that he'd been told to stay wide and get crosses in, when logic would dictate that if you have a right-footer on the left side, the advice should be to get the ball and then cut inside and try to get a shot away with their preferred foot. I'd be interested to know Flynn's view.

57Sheehan 7 and "quiet" ? Thought he had an excellent game and was close behind Labs for me as MOM - 8Frank Nouble 3 wrote:Why o why do we struggle against Crap.
totally dominated the first half with quality football.
Should of with a bit of luck been 4/5 up.
Second half total dross.
Macclesfield worst side I have seen in years.
Tom could of knitted a jumper tonight.
We got dragged down to their level.
Greene came off due to a niggle as he was talking to Flynny.
Robbie on the left out of position and hopeless tonight, looked uninterested.
Thought ref was fair, no complaints.
3 points but we should of stuffed rubbish like that.
Greene is a great loan signing, not so sure about Walters though.
King 7 nothing to do
Baker 6 Okay
Demetriou 6 Not his dominant best
Bennett 7 Quiet but class.
Sheehan 7 Quality but quiet
Haynes 7 Back to his best
Wilmott 4 Out of position again on left!!
Matt 7 Never stopped, terrible one on one miss though.
Amond 6 Kept at it to no avail.
Greene 8 Superb game
Labs 9 MOM immense tonight
Walters 6 Ran around a bit
Sure we will play far better Saturday.
Enjoyable first half.
Totally forgettable second

What he did was superb but for him he had a quiet night imo.
