When fixtures were curtailed in March, the football authorities jumped the gun on government pronouncements but that's highly unlikely this time. However, there is still time for the event to be given a green light for an October fixture (3rd or 17th). Let's hope customers in Aldi don't spoil things for us fans, eh?
Morning

Its not just Aldis  but its the majority of the general public just thinking its not going to affect them.
This farcical testing has to be accountable as well.
Friends daughters sent home yesterday.
Tried to book a test.
Sorted
Bristol ******G Airport.

Well, statistically the majority of the public are correct. It isn't going to affect them. Also, it's those who are not abiding by the rules that catch your eye. In truth, the 'majority' are making an effort. In respect of football crowds, I still think that finally being allowed to watch a game after such a long absence will be more likely to make them abide by the distancing rules. A stadium will be a safer environment than a supermarket.

How are these matches selected as it gives the home team a financial boost over others?

Don't think its a matter of being selected. More to do with a club making a request and then satisfying EFL / Safety Group Covid requirements and then the logistics of sorting tickets out in 4 days. Also if club has sold more than 1,000 STs how do you decide who goes and who doesn't, first come first served?

Update.

Friend drove to Bristol Airport this morning for the booked tests.
Got there.
"Sorry no record of your booking".

Unbelievable.
Hoping for test later up Ebbw Vale way now.

Surely there is no financial gain for a club holding a test fixture. Those attending will be season ticket holders who have paid for the match. There are no extra 'walk up' customers. It just becomes a decision for a club to decide how to allocate their limited number of attendees.

Might be picking someone up? I've worn a mask in the car before picking up my elderly relatives to take them shopping.

Give over you silly old fool. I didn't say all was working well, however, I have personally known of 30+ people to have gone for a covid test, and whilst some have had to travel further than they'd have liked, all have had no problems when they've turned up with their QR code

Oh, and that should read he claimed that he was told to go to Inverness.

I've heard Merthyr Town FC have shut down for the season, seemingly mothballing the club until it's safe and worthwhile to re-open.
